Our first task was to recruit. We needed a third amigo. Grant a friend and former colleague of both of ours for many years was our first and only choice.

Having watched the growing Artisan coffee scene in London develop,  David and I were ahead of the game and could see a great opportunity to bring to sunny Essex. The timing for Grant was perfect as he was just about to take a change in direction anyway. It seemed a 'no brainer'....

...So after years of importing and distributing coffee through our sister company, David and I finally  decided to do something about our Roasting dream. Our young families were not so young anymore (family first) so the time seemed right in March 2013.

That is up until our infamous pub discussion of the virtues of the Nespresso machine. Grant had one, we didn't, we obviously didn't! Apparently convenience and consistency were the future. It took a trip to Holland to source our Giesen Roaster and a cup of amazing coffee for Grant to see the light.

With Grant on board and the Roaster purchased, our next step was 'where to Roast'? Luck played its hand. Our sister company has been based on the tranquil Reeds Farm Estate in Writtle for a number of years. In all that time we had not seen any other suitable units come available. Just two days after buying our Roaster the landlord asked us if we would be interested in the neighbouring unit. The perfect size and location.  How lucky is that!
